DESCRIPTION:During the day at Naval Air Orientation Day\, students from Memphis City Schools\, Shelby County Schools\, other Mid-South schools\, and midshipmen from the University of Memphis\, along with future sailor candidates\, will have the opportunity to view front-line Navy and Coast Guard aircraft and engage with the crews to discover about the aircraft missions and how to become involved in Naval Aviation. \nThat same evening starting at 6:00 p.m.\, patriotic citizens and business leaders will celebrate and salute our local Navy\, Marine Corps\, and Coast Guard active duty men and women. A military-uniformed sword arch from the University of Memphis Naval ROTC will provide a formal entrance for those attending our Wine Under Wings event. Later\, our Millington Sea Cadet unit will smartly present colors to kick off the brief awards program portion of the evening. The local Memphis Knights will provide “big band” background music while guests may try tasty hors d’eouvres and sample dozens of great wines in the presence of vintage and military aircraft. DESCRIPTION:WASHINGTON – The United States Navy Band Sea Chanters chorus will perform a free concert in Memphis on their 2024 national tour March 13 at 7 p.m. at the University of Memphis Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center\, 3800 Central Ave.\, Memphis\, Tennessee.\nAll U.S. Navy Band performances are free and open to the public\, though some concerts may require ticket reservations. Memphis FREE ticket link below.\nThe U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters is the official chorus of America’s Navy. The ensemble performs a variety of music ranging from traditional choral music\, including sea chanteys and patriotic fare\, to opera\, Broadway and contemporary music. The Sea Chanters chorus is frequently found at the center of high-profile national events. At home in Washington\, D.C.\, the group performs for the president\, vice president\, and numerous congressional\, military and foreign dignitaries.\nOne of the U.S. Navy Band’s primary responsibilities involves touring the country. All of the band’s primary performing units embark each year on concert tours throughout specified regions of the country\, allowing the band to reach audiences in areas of the country that do not have opportunities to see the Navy’s premier musical ensembles on a regular basis. Students and interested citizens are invited to visit during this time to view a variety of modern Naval aircraft and vintage warbirds. Questions about their responsibilities and experiences flying these magnificent aircraft\, as well as how to get involved in Naval Aviation\, can be directed to the pilots and crew members. SUMMARY:Wine Under Wings 2025 - "All Systems Go"
DESCRIPTION:During the day at Naval Air Orientation Day\, students from Memphis City Schools\, Shelby County Schools\, other Mid-South schools\, and midshipmen from the University of Memphis\, along with future sailor candidates\, will have the opportunity to view front-line Navy and Coast Guard aircraft and engage with the crews to discover about the aircraft missions and how to become involved in Naval Aviation. \nThat same evening starting at 6:00 p.m.\, patriotic citizens and business leaders will celebrate and salute our local Navy\, Marine Corps\, and Coast Guard active duty men and women.Later\, our Millington Sea Cadet unit will smartly present colors to kick off the Military Ceremony and brief awards program portion of the evening. The local Memphis Knights will provide “big band” background music while guests may try tasty hors d’eouvres and sample dozens of great wines in the presence of vintage and military aircraft.
